Stella Adler Studio of Acting: A Journey of Brazilian Actress Thais Fernandes
Located in New York, United States, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting is one of the most renowned acting conservatories in the world, contributing to the training of artists like Marlon Brando, Mark Ruffalo, Holland Taylor, Salma Hayek, among others. Since September of this year, the institution gained one more member: Brazilian actress Thais Fernandes, 32 years old.
Thais, who graduated from the Technical School of Theater, Dance, and Music in Vitória (Fafi), is originally from Vitória, Espírito Santo, and also has a degree in Advertising and Public Relations from the Federal University of Espírito Santo (Ufes).
With the aim of expanding her training in the performing arts, Thais decided to move to the United States in September 2021. Since then, she has taken the opportunity to improve her English skills and attend theater courses and workshops to be better prepared for future auditions and casting processes.
In December 2022, when the Stella Adler Studio's selection process was open, Thais immediately applied. With a competitive selection process that attracts aspiring actors from all over the world, Thais had to present two monologues in the first stage of the selection, which took place in January of this year.
After the second stage, the acceptance letter came on March 1, 2023, with a scholarship due to her outstanding performance in the selection process. Classes started on September 11.
From Fafi to one of the biggest theater schools in the world
According to Thais, she had her first contact with the performing arts when she was 12 years old. While passing by Vitória's downtown by bus, she saw a group of children doing a play through the window.
From then on, during her teenage years, Thais took various courses, such as theater initiation, dramatic games, dance for actors, among others, until she turned 18 and enrolled in the technical course offered by Fafi.
With her passion for acting growing stronger, Thais sought new challenges and opportunities abroad. The Stella Adler Studio of Acting, known for its rigorous training and high-quality education, became her dream destination.
Embracing the challenges and opportunities
Thais's journey to the Stella Adler Studio of Acting was not without its challenges. Moving to a new country, adapting to a different culture, and competing in a highly competitive selection process were just some of the hurdles she had to overcome.
However, Thais's dedication, talent, and passion for acting proved to be essential in her journey. The support of her family, friends, and mentors also played a significant role in her success.
